All of us want to achieve happiness and find a place under the sun where we will finally be content with the life we are living.
But some things are easier said than done, and this belongs to that group.
Instead of focusing on opportunities, we humans tend to pay too much attention to the things that will never help us progress.
Until we find a way to walk them to the door that leads outside of our life, we won’t be able to lead a happy one.
The harsh truth is that you will never be happy till you learn to ignore unnecessary things; the ones that make you feel like you are stuck in time.
Once that happens, your dreams will come true. You will be truly happy and you will never even wish to go back to your old habits.
Here is what you should learn to ignore if you want to get to a point in your life when you will finally feel happy.
1. Ignore those who left you behind

The truth is that we have all been hurt in the past – by words, actions, or false promises.
No matter what, we know what it feels like when someone leaves us behind like we mean nothing to them.
This can hurt so much that you bring the pain from the past into the present and you let it overtake your life.
You pay too much attention to the actions of those who never cared about you and as long as you have no idea how to ignore them, you will never lead a happy life.
Instead of focusing on the past and on those who left wounds on your heart, you should look to the future and leave the bad memories where they are supposed to be.
Any other choice ruins the possibility of achieving the happy life you want to lead.
2. Ignore the desire to always strive for perfection

If you want to lead a happy life, you should ignore the desire to always strive for perfection. You are a human being and it is normal to make mistakes.
Don’t expect yourself to always be perfect as it is unrealistic and it only puts pressure on you.
It’s not a happy life if you are constantly stressed about what your next move should be and how you are going to execute it.
You are free to make as many mistakes as needed to get you to the place you want to be.
There is nothing wrong with that. Look at it as an experience that can only make you a happier person.
3. Ignore the idea that you have to please others

It feels to me like we are taught to please others from an early age.
Even if you didn’t feel like doing something, your parents would tell you that you should do it for someone else and you felt guilty if you listened to your heart.
That’s why now, as adults, we don’t know how to say no when we don’t want to do something so we simply do it for the sake of others.
I must be honest and tell you that you will never lead a happy life until you ignore the desire to always please others.
When you do so, you make yourself less important in your own life.
How can you expect this behavior to make you happy?
So, cut the rope that attaches you to other people and finally start doing things that make YOU happy.
If you don’t want to do something, simply say no. You will see how good it feels when you are the creator of your own happiness.
4. Ignore your negative thoughts

The saying ‘you are your own worst enemy’ carries more truth than most of the words I have ever heard.
We can all agree that we always criticize ourself more than others.
Nothing you do will ever be enough and you will always be able to find a mistake that you can’t stop thinking about.
And as long as you keep doing this, you will never be able to lead a happy life.
There will always be something that is missing and something that needs improvement.
However, it doesn’t mean that what you are doing is not worthy of attention.
So shut down all of the negative thoughts that are running through your mind and focus on the amazing possibilities that are standing right in front of you but which you can’t see from all of the negativity.
5. Ignore your insecurities

I bet you can’t give me the name of one person you know who isn’t insecure about one part of themselves.
No matter what we are talking about, there is always something that bugs us.
But the problem begins when you let those insecurities shape your life.
You let that pessimistic voice in your head create a future for you, and trust me when I say it won’t be a happy one.
Instead of letting it do whatever it wants and send you off on a road that leads to miserable places, you should learn to ignore the negative voice and be the creator of your own happiness.
Who cares about a few insecurities when the world is full of them?
Focus on everything you have to offer and you will see that things are not as bad as they seem.
There is a rainbow hiding inside of you, you just need to let it out!
6. Ignore the decisions that come out of anger

We are all guilty of letting our emotions shape our decisions, especially those ones that come out of anger.
Your emotions let you do things out of hatred which means that you will never be happy with the outcome.
The only thing you can get is a short-term feeling of satisfaction that you maybe hurt someone who hurt you.
But trust me, you will wake up the next morning regretting your decision and wishing you hadn’t done what you did.
That’s why you need to ignore all of the decisions that come out of anger as they won’t help you lead a happy life.
Sleep on it and make a wiser move in the morning instead of letting your anger control your life.
Once you learn to ignore these six things, you will notice how happier your life could be. You will finally feel that you can breathe with full lungs.
No stress, no drama, and no regrets. Instead, you will get to lead a happy life at its best.
