A Letter To My Future Spouse, I’m Patiently Waiting

Written by Alexis Tiffany

I wasn’t there the moments you needed me most.

I wasn’t there to hug you for every accomplishment.

I wasn’t there to kiss your wounds and your beautiful scars.

I wasn’t there the nights when you felt like you couldn’t go on, but please, don’t give up.

I know I’m a part of you, even if we haven’t met. I know I never got to share every beautiful moment in your life, and I don’t think I was meant to.

I truly believe from the moment we met that is when we needed each other the most.

Please know, you are not bound to second place in my heart.

I’ll know that the moments I cried myself to sleep, waking up feeling empty, and even when I was scared to take another breath was all because no one was ever you.

I will wait patiently. I will hold on to that hope that you’re out there wherever you may be. In the distance and what feels like so far away.

I want you to know I’m here and there is a part of my heart I’ve never given out. It’s reserved only for you. I hope you leave a space inside your heart for everything I miss.

I can’t wait to see your smile.

I can’t wait to look into your eyes.

I can’t wait for you to tell me everything about you and all the moments I’ve missed.

I can’t wait for you to unravel your secrets to me.

I can’t wait to wipe away your tears.

I can’t wait to wake up with you each and every morning.

I can’t wait to watch you come alive and fall in love with me.
