How to Deal with Emotionally Unavailable Women

Written by Deborah Carbone

When you’ve had your heart broken, you tend to close yourself off to romance, afraid of getting hurt again. You try not to let it get to you, but you find yourself feeling more and more alone. That’s why it’s virtually impossible to get through to emotionally unavailable women – they’ve built high walls, and they’re not coming down anytime soon.

But if you’re in love with emotionally unavailable women, it’s important to know how to get through to them. It’s hard, but not impossible. If you’re willing to put in some hard work, you can heal your lady and make them happy again. Here’s how to deal with emotionally unavailable women.

Talk to other emotionally unavailable women about their experiences

It can be a sensitive subject to bring up why someone has closed themselves off. That’s why it’s a good idea to speak to someone who has been in the same position as your lady. You don’t want to dive in head first and scare her off, but you need an opinion of someone who knows what it’s like.

If you know someone you trust, such as your mom or a close friend, who has been through a situation that emotionally closed them off, they’ll have a wealth of knowledge on the topic. Ask them what they did to overcome it, or how you can approach emotionally unavailable women sensitively. You’ll learn a lot from what they have to say.

Let them know that you’re not going anywhere

Patience is a virtue, and if you’re willing to wait, your woman will begin to see that you mean to stick around. With that comes the knowledge that you are a good person who doesn’t plan to hurt them. However, this may not necessarily be enough alone to convince them that you won’t break their heart unintentionally. Emotionally unavailable women have become that way because they fear the pain that comes with love. However, the longer you wait, the clearer it becomes that you’re genuine and good.

Opening up yourself encourages them to as well

If you’re too conservative with your feelings, emotionally unavailable women will never trust you with their own emotions. You must be willing to tell them how you feel and be honest. Honesty shows them that you have nothing to hide, and even if the truth hurts sometimes, it’s always better than a lie. Women can spot a liar a mile off, so there’s no point even trying, especially if you’re trying to capture the heart of someone who has closed theirs off.

Walk a mile in her shoes

If she opens up to you about why she closed herself off, you have to find a way to understand. Whether you live her scenario out in her head, or you find a similar experience to relate to her, showing you can understand will really help. Be sensitive. It takes emotionally unavailable women a long time to open up. Honour that by treating them with respect and kindness, offering a shoulder to cry on if they need it.

Don’t push them too far too fast

So they’ve opened up to you. They’ve decided to trust you, and you feel like they’re getting closer to you. However, you still need to be cautious. Rushing in too fast makes it seem like you only supported them to win their heart. Consider that they are still hurting, and they may want to take it at a slightly slower pace than you’re used to. When you finally get to the place you want to be, it’ll be worth the wait, so don’t force things along at top speed. Good things come to those who wait, after all.
