A Letter To My Unborn Child – Please…

unborn child, letter, mom
Written by Nela Baricevic

My sweet baby,

I’m writing you this letter to let you know that I love you, or better to say – I adore you, even though I have never met you. I love you, but according to the love that I’m feeling, I want you to know the truth. I want you to be ready. I want you to feel and understand both positive and negative aspects of this world that we all live in.

I want to make sure you are brave and ready for this crazy, unpredictable ride. Of course, I’ll keep you safe as much as I can, but we both know protecting is not always the best option. I don’t want you to be overprotected, so I just wanna put this on the paper and make sure you’ll get it when you’re ready.

You’ll light up my days, so I wanna light up your life as much as I can. And I think that if you’ll try and follow these simple but huge and important steps, the happiness will surround you and you’ll feel happy inside. So, please, please be the light you want to see in this world.

Please,  please keep this in mind…

Be the change you want to see in this world. – Mahatma Gandhi

There’s no doubt about this because if you, my dear, change yourself, you will change the world. If you change the way you think, you will also change how you feel and the actions that you take. The worst thing you can do to yourself is to stay stuck in your old thought patterns. Don’t fill you mind with negative stuff. Try to see positive things in life. Try to surround yourself with the ones you love, rather than focusing on the ones you don’t. Try to enjoy every second of your life. Try to smile. Try to fly. Every minute of every day of every week and month and year of your life.

Don’t go through life, grow through life. – Eric Butterworth

One of the most important things in life is that you grow a little each day. You explore. Your read. You see. You learn. Each day is a bright new lesson if you give it a chance. Don’t build walls so you can hide behind them. Don’t build walls just to see who will climb them. Be the light. Be the opportunity. Be the smile. The life. The raising hand. The sun.

The best proof of love is trust. – Joyce Brothers

You must trust the ones you love. They must feel you trust them. And you’ll get their trust in return. You won’t find peace by hiding, by measuring each step with fear and doubt. Forget about it! Give your trust even if you’re not sure if it is the right thing to do. It’s better to give and lose than to doubt all the time. First will be at least a good lesson for later life challenges.

You cannot find peace by avoiding life. – Virginia Wolf

Don’t live a life of endless excuses. Fear is a trap. Fear of failure. Fear of embarrassment. Fear of change. Fear of responsibility. Fear is the key to get and stay in our comfort zone. But you can’t stay there forever. You must go forward. You must travel. You must experience some uncomfortable situations so you can learn from them. Trust me, you won’t find peace by avoiding life.

Live life to the fullest. – Robert Louis Stevenson

Be brave. Take an opportunity and try. No matter if you fail. We all fail sometimes. Failure comes with life. Believe me, believe your mom, many times failure is a better lesson than winning.

Please, believe me—beginning is the first step to success. So, begin to live not to fear. So, begin by having in mind these positive words: believe, dare, explore, forgive, be grateful, hope, improve, be kind, listen, release, smile and laugh, think, understand and… spread your wings. Spread the power and the love you will be born with.

Finally, I want you to know that I’m so looking forward to meeting you.

To touching your hair.

To seeing your eyes.

To hearing your laugh.

Your loving mom…
