Spend More Time Being, Not Doing
Sometimes there comes a moment in everybody’s life when we look back. There comes a time when we look back at what we did and how we did it, what we have accomplished besides the material, how and with whom we spent our time and how we lived our life. Were we the person we wanted to be?
We all spend our weeks waiting for the weekend, spend our years waiting to go on a holiday and so on. It appears that all we do is wait. People who live their lives to the full potential are rare. When it comes to the rest of us, in the meantime of all the waiting, life passes by us. The majority of people live their lives as if they were robots or drones. We live our lives automatically, stuck in different kinds of routines day by day. You’ve perfected multitasking and it’s like you are living your life on autopilot. How long has it been since you asked yourself if you are happy? And how long has it been since you were truly happy without any particular reason? You are always in a rush and don’t have the time for your family and friends. And what is most important, you don’t have time for yourself. You would like to read a book in peace and tranquillity, you would like to watch your favorite series, or just drink coffee without hurry and stress. But you just can’t find time. Even when you have the time, you feel exhausted and don’t have the energy for anything besides resting. And you shouldn’t blame anyone for that situation. You are not a priority for yourself, and everything is more important for you than yourself.
People often run away from themselves by staying busy all the time. We are constantly doing something and we don’t get the time and energy to just be. We don’t enjoy life. Actually, we don’t live our life to the fullest, we just survive it. And you know this is not how it’s supposed to be. You should be in charge of your life and have an active role in it. Don’t be passive and let life pass you by. The first thing you have to do is to build your own personality. You need to set clear goals and be straight with yourself about the things you want from life. You should explore yourself and find out what is important for you and where your boundaries are. In this way, when you get to know yourself, it’s easier to show others who you are. Have the courage to make decisions about your life and emotions. Stand up for yourself even if you are scared. This will build your self-confidence. You will appreciate yourself more and be proud of yourself. And other people will follow. Even if you stumble sometimes, don’t be too hard on yourself. Even if you fail, don’t concentrate on mistakes you made, focus on the fact that you tried. Be kind to yourself. This will provide you with the strength you never thought you had.
You should take advantage of everything life gives you and should try to look at everything as positively as you can. Remember that life’s possibilities are endless, and you are the only one holding you back and limiting yourself. It’s up to you how you will receive the gifts that life presents you with. If you are positive and see the good in everything, you will have enough energy to fulfill the goals you have set for yourself. Be aware that you can’t change the past or some people, so don’t waste your time and energy on thinking about that. Always look forward! Use your time to grow and improve in any way possible. But you won’t be able to do that as long as there are things and people holding you back in the past. This is the only way in which you won’t give yourself a chance to waste your life.
So spend more time being, not doing. Enjoy every day, every moment, and every breath you take. Enjoy time with your loved ones, and always find time for yourself and for your small pleasures. You’ll thank yourself, trust me!
