Tips for a better relationship
Even when you’re happy with your partner, you can always use tips for a better relationship. There’s always a way to improve, even if you believe you’re close to perfection. Every relationship is different, and so different tips will apply better to some than others, but in general, our tips for a better relationship can be used universally.
Tips for a better relationship:
Go on more days out together
After a long week, it’s all too easy to spend all weekend slobbing in front of the TV. However, one of the best tips for a better relationship is to go on more outings. Getting out and making memories together is important, and will liven up your relationship.
Don’t get overly comfortable
This may sound ridiculous, because of course you want to be comfortable in your relationship. However, it can also mean growing lazy with your relationship. Don’t forget to give time and effort to your relationship, in other words – if you don’t, you’ll start to feel bored and you’ll fall apart.
Make time for one another
Even when life is at its busiest, you should always have time for your partner. No excuses. If you don’t want to make time for them, then you probably shouldn’t be together. Make sure you have plenty of time spent together, one on one.
Make time for other people
This is the opposite, really. Spending too much time with your partner, and solely your partner, isn’t healthy. Make time for the other people who are important to you, and take a break from your partner. Whether you realise it or not, the breathing space will do you both good.
Settle your arguments with conversation
Don’t shout and scream at one another, even when you’re at your angriest. If you need to, walk away for a while until you’re ready to have a calm and collected conversation. You’ll do less damage that way, and won’t end up saying things you’ll regret later.
Find a shared interest
Many couples don’t share a lot of common interests, which is fine, but it’s nice to find something you can both do together. When it comes to tips for a better relationship, this one is important. It could be a sport or something creative, but whatever it is, it has to be something you can both sink your teeth into. Do it solely with one another, and keep it up. It’ll be something you can share as a partnership, which is especially good if you usually keep up your hobbies separately.
Go to the gym together
Couples who gym together stay together. It may be a little intimidating at first to go with your partner, but it’s a great way to motivate yourself to go, at least. Exercise is also great for mental health and releases endorphins, so you’ll be thinking happy thoughts the whole time you’re at the gym and with your partner. It’s a win win!
Find ways to be intimate when you’re apart
This doesn’t have to mean being sexual. This can mean using a couples app, or phoning each other each night before you go to sleep. For long distance relationships in particular, it’s vital that you find ways to stay close with your partner when they’re elsewhere. It also applies for when you’re together. Even if you’re not a sexual person, things like cuddles are important for keeping the pair of you close. The intimacy between you is what separates you from close friendship to being in a relationship, so don’t compromise on intimacy.
